As Kenya commemorates 16 years since the promulgation of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010, the County Assemblies Forum (CAF) joins the nation in reflecting on the transformative journey of constitutional governance and devolution.
The Constitution ushered in a new era of governance founded on democratic principles, accountability, participation, and the equitable distribution of resources and opportunities. At the heart of this transformation is devolution, which has brought governance and development closer to the people through the establishment of county governments and legislatures.
As we celebrate this important milestone, CAF renews its commitment to strengthening constitutionalism, democratic governance and effective county legislative institutions. Strong and accountable County Assemblies remain critical to advancing the principles of devolution and ensuring that the voices and aspirations of citizens are represented in governance.
Looking ahead, Education, Skills and the Future must remain central to Kenya’s development agenda. Investing in knowledge, skills and opportunities for young people is essential to building an informed, innovative and empowered generation capable of shaping the Kenya we aspire to have.
