The County Assemblies Forum Governing Council convened in Nairobi to review key priorities and flagship programmes for FY 2026/2027, reaffirming its commitment to strengthening collaboration, devolution and the collective voice of County Assemblies.
The County Assemblies Forum (CAF) Governing Council today convened in Nairobi for a meeting chaired by the CAF Chairperson, Hon. Seth Mwatela Kamanza, Speaker of the Kwale County Assembly, to deliberate on key priorities and programmes for the Financial Year 2026/2027.
The Council reviewed the Forum’s strategic priorities and flagship activities for the new financial year, including preparations for the CAF Youth Legislators Conference 2026, which seeks to strengthen youth participation, leadership and representation within devolved governance.
The meeting provided an opportunity for the Governing Council to assess priority areas and strengthen coordination in advancing the mandate of the Forum on behalf of Kenya’s County Assemblies.
Discussions underscored the importance of continued collaboration among County Assemblies and other stakeholders to strengthen devolution, legislative capacity, and effective representation of citizens at the county level.
The Governing Council reaffirmed its commitment to promoting a strong, accountable and people-centred devolved governance system, while strengthening the collective voice of County Assemblies in matters affecting the effective implementation of devolution.
The meeting also set the tone for the Forum’s programmes and engagements throughout FY 2026/2027, focusing on strengthening County Assemblies and advancing the principles and objectives of devolution.
