On 15th November 2016, County Assembly Speakers, Clerks, Leaders of Majority and Minority, and Legal Officers participated in the Launch of County Model Laws which were developed by the Ministry of Devolution and Planning (MoDP)

in partnership with the Kenya Law Reform Commission (KLRC); to facilitate effective and harmonized legislation in the counties. Other stakeholders represented included the Office of the Solicitor General, County Attorneys, UNDP, and USAID-AHADI.

The fifty (50) Model Laws which cover areas such as Agriculture, County Health Services, Culture and Entertainment, Trade Development and Regulation, County Education, County Public Works, and Public participation & Access to Information among others; have assisted County Assemblies in the law making process by providing a framework on requirements for various laws; and acted as a Reference point/ Guiding tools in legislative drafting. The launch was held at the Kenya School of Government (KSG), Nairobi.
